The Future of Content: Access to Open Educational Resources and Other 21st Century Learning Materials

Open educational resources, digital textbooks and open source innovations promise increased access, sometimes at a reduced cost.  But will good things really happen for students and teachers?  A college librarian, a publisher, and an open source specialist will provide some answers.

Blended Learning: One Size Doesn’t Have to Fit All

Some disciplines, populations, and institutions may be better suited to a combination of face-to-face and online interaction.  This panel will explore alternative approaches to the traditional classroom and unconventional ideas to reach different types of learners who may not thrive otherwise.

21st Century Learning – Mission Possible: "Your Assignment, Should You Choose to Accept it….”

Terms such as digital citizenship, digital literacy, media literacy, social media, etc. are used in the future of education. What are the definitions and how do these affect 21 century learning. What is an Acceptable Use Policy?

  • Schools – from buildings to learning environments
  • Teachers – from dispenser of information to orchestrator of learning
  • Learning – from young person in school building to life long learner.

The New Job Search: Are We Creating Graduates that Have 21st Century “Shovel Ready” Skills?

Our mission is complete; our 21st Century graduates are entering the workforce.  This panel examines the new job search using social media and traditional tools to find a job in a challenging environment:

  • Internships
  • Networking (phone, email)
  • Social Media (Linked in, Facebook, etc.)
  • Online jobs databases (Monster.com, etc.)
  • Face to Face Job Placement (Employment Development Department)

Open discussion is encouraged right now!
